A_122 - Sexual violence against women is a very serious act, which leaves deep and often lasting marks on those who suffer it, regardless of any other consequence. In the specific case where a pregnancy results from a rape, it is more than understandable that a woman would not want to carry it to term: it is not comparable to a pregnancy chosen together with a partner she is in tune with, and no woman should feel obligated to carry for nine months the consequence of violence she suffered. It should also be said that a pregnancy resulting from an act of violence doesn't start from an easy foundation for later building a peaceful relationship with the child, which is a further reason why the choice not to continue the pregnancy should be respected and understood.
